Abstract
An improved method for allowing a NMR magnet to meet its field homogeneity requirements has been developed. Using the adjoint variable method, topology design sensitivity is derived analytically. Coupled with continuum topology sensitivity analysis, steep descent method is employed to find an optimized distribution of the shimming block of iron for the permanent magnets NMR. Different free induction decay signal data shows the effectiveness of the proposed optimal design method.
