Abstract :
What visual program abstractions support programming? We explore this question for object-oriented programming with reference to programming tasks such as modification engineering and program development. We present ten related abstractions (views) of a program using visual constructs based on empirical and observational studies. We explain the dynamic and interactive nature of the views and suggest how they would be used in programming tasks
