Abstract
Automated measurement system for direct turbulent fluxes over the open ocean has been developed. This system for the turbulent flux and ship motion correction are installed at the top of the foremast of R/V MIRAI, JAMSTEC. The data from both systems are monitoring by on-board and not on-board operators. This unique system is capable of wide application for various ships, and can be also used by inexperienced scientists and technicians. The turbulent CO2 flux over the open ocean directly evaluated by this system indicate reasonable as well as the sensible and latent heat fluxes, however, is larger than the bulk CO2 fluxes indirectly estimated using the gas transfer velocity by mass balance techniques.
