Abstract
In this paper, we propose a passenger monitoring system with ubiquitous detection sensors for railway platform safety. Objectives of the system are to perceive dangerous situation in platform, such as fallen passenger on the track, and to inform central control room and local station employee and train driver about the situation. The proposed system consists of a series of sensors, such as infrared sensors, video and thermal cameras. The information acquisition unit detects and perceives dangerous factor, such as fallen passenger, disastrous fire and so on, in the monitoring area by using multiple vision and location sensors. The central data fusion unit makes more intelligent and meaningful information by using inputted the monitored results from every single camera sensor and infrared sensor for analyzing the situation. The information multicasting service unit provides different clients, such as local station employee, CCR employee and train driver with corresponding alarm message including standard operation procedure with video information about the accident situation in order to deal promptly with emergencies.
