Abstract :
A simple method for simulating frequency response of any system (linear, nonlinear, hybrid, multirate, etc.) is introduced. The method takes advantage of underlying algebraic structures, numerical methods, and user interfaces common to most commerical computer-aided control system design (CACSD) software tools. It simulates exactly what measuring instruments do in actual measurements, thus offering insight into the system´s response before any test hardware or prototypes are built. The method is very valuable for early detection of system level problems. An example illustrating its application in disk drive servo system design is given
