Abstract
A state of the art coherent carrier wave 41.5 GHz bistatic radar has been used to observe rainfall, snow and fog scatter together with Doppler spread over a period of approximately three months. These data indicate the significance of rainfall scatter at millimetre frequencies and the radar proves itself as a very sensitive tool for the detection of wind shear in the presence of precipitation
