Over the last 30 years, China has undertaken reforms to gradually liberalize its repressed economy. These reforms include liberalizing China´s exchange rate regime, its capital account and domestic financial sector. This essay discusses the related theories and identifies the appropriate sequence in the process of liberalizing Chinese economy. It focuses exclusively upon reforming the exchange rate regime, liberalizing the capital account and domestic financial sector in China.
