Abstract :
Design equations for a low loss lumped element isolator operating in weak magnetic field below resonance are derived by analyzing the equivalent circuit. The equation of the insertion loss of the isolator is derived by using the perturbation theory, which shows decreasing of the insertion loss by optimizing the coupling factor between two inductors. Actually, it is confirmed by the circuit simulation using admittance matrix. Using these design equations, a small sized 0.5X1.6X0.4mm3 Core-Isolator for cellular phone handset is realized, and the insertion loss of 0.7dB max. and the isolation 23dB min. have been obtained at 2.57GHz to 2.62GHz.
