Abstract :
Elevator systems have become one of the main connected loads of the present era. This paper reports methods to make the elevator systems more comfortable and efficient. The comfort is assured by smoothening of the speed profile through predefined non-instantaneous jerk pattern. A novel jerk pattern which smoothens the speed profile without increasing the travel time is proposed in this paper. Efficiency is improved through minimization of steady state losses in the induction motor used in the elevator system. An optimized value of torque generating component of current (i.e. ids) is used for the minimization of steady state losses. The system was simulated in MATLAB/Simulink and these results are presented in the paper.
