Abstract :
We investigate the role of mode-dependent loss (MDL), gain (MDG), and noise figure (MDF) in optically amplified multiple-input-multiple-output space-division multiplexed (MIMO-SDM) communication systems through capacity analyses, bit error ratio simulations, and experiments.
