Abstract :
Considering the flat Rayleigh-faded channel, we derived an analytical expression for the frame capture probability Pcapture assuming two discrete mean power levels (occurring with predefined probability) of frames at the receiver. The simulations prove the validity of such a capture model assuming 24 dB difference of the two power levels. The expected through improvement under capture is observed only given the RTS/CTS "handshake" transmission scheme is not used. The impact of different lengths of frame-error bursts due to correlated channel fading over performance can be neglected
