Abstract
Multiview coding is an enabling technique which facilitates stereo-vision and 3D applications. Compression ratios can be improved by taking reference frames across different viewpoints. However, the inter-view dependency yields additional drift errors. This paper applies multiple description coding technique for multi-view video to reduce the probability of corrupted video frames for streaming applications. Three scenarios are investigated in this paper, including independent multi-view multi-description coding (MVMDC) with I,P Frames independent MVMDC with I,P,B frames, and MVMDC with dependent anchor frames. The pattern of frame loss probability for MVMDC video streaming under these three scenarios are formulated and evaluated in this paper.
