Abstract
While design patterns are tested and verified solutions to common design problems, pre-patterns are new solutions to design issues in emerging applications. This paper aims to evaluate the application of pre-patterns to the design specification of the interaction of an application for interactive digital television. An amount of 23 pre-patterns were defined in previous works, and in this work an evaluation of their effectiveness was done with seven designers in a participatory process. The results show the main benefits and difficulties of the designers in this process. Moreover, a review of the pre-patterns used is presented, as well as aids for the development and future use with the application of pre-patterns based on the designers´ experiences.
