Abstract :
A direction for the development of future customer adaptive communication services that seeks to deal with the complexity of these services by making them more adaptive to the individual user is presented. User modeling, the process of construction of computational models of users, is described. The promises of customer adaptive services are explored by means of two current research projects: a personal news reader and an audio tutorial for advanced telephony services. Personal information filtering which aims to reduce the volume of electronic form news information by establishing personal interest profiles based on user modeling is also discussed
