Abstract :
The paper analyzes the received data of shallow subsurface ground penetrating radar (GPR), and proposes to decide the useful information distribution area in the whole received data by the variance characteristic and A-scan energy of the data. A new fast synthetic aperture imaging (SAI) method is achieved by using only those useful GPR data. The results of processing experimental data show that this method is very effective, the effect of the fast synthetic aperture imaging method corresponds with the general synthetic aperture imaging method, and the computational load is reduced greatly compared with the general synthetic aperture imaging method.
