Abstract
A proposed 440 Mbps FDSS (frequency division spread spectrum) UWB system is presented. Also, the generation of the FDSS signal is given. System requirements and the practical aspect that should be taken into account are investigated. The system downlink capacity is calculated. The downlink range is calculated using the free space propagation model specified by the IEEE 802.15.3a channel modeling committee. It is noticed that, the UWB has a capacity of 25 UWB users with an activity factor of 0.5 and the link range is 4.36 m
