Abstract
It is well-understood that co-design of the transceiver circuit and the antenna can improve matching, efficiency and pulse shape in ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. Transfer function characterization of the UWB antennas is necessary in order for these to be designed together with the circuits. Transfer function characterization of UWB antennas based on frequency domain measurement has been studied in this paper. CPW-fed printed hexagonal antennas suitable for UWB applications have been designed, fabricated and characterized in terms of transmitting and receiving transfer function. Time domain measurements have been carried out to verify the transfer function characterization results
