Abstract
The regional registry of acute myocardial infarction of the Lombardy region of Italy (RIMAR study) was established April 1988. All the 43 coronary care units (CCUs) of the region were connected by a personal computer network. Software was planned to collect clinical and organizing or general information on all the patients admitted in CCU with an acute myocardial infarction. Aims of the study were the knowledge of the epidemiological data of acute myocardial infarction and the assessment of the real effectiveness of the newest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, in order to improve the management of cardiac patients and of the regional health plan
