Abstract :
Recently, a large number of renewable energy resources and DC loads spur the research spotlight of the future power grid, which is also referred to as Energy Internet. In order to achieve such a fundamental innovation to the novel energy paradigm, many devices are to be designed, manufactured, and evaluated. In this paper, we describe the solid state transformer-based energy router in which incoming energy traffic can be converted and routed to an outgoing energy traffic. In particular, we focus on the architecture design of such a router and models of energy storage devices, generators, and loads, for Energy Local Area Network (ELAN). The proposed energy router features plug-and-play Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), and customized operating system, that providing a system level modeling for the optimal design and performance analysis of energy routers.
