Abstract
This paper presents an approach to reduce inverter losses in electric vehicles at partial load operation. To investigate losses and efficiency for a given driving cycle a vehicle model for drive resistance calculation, an electric machine model and a circuit model of the inverter are proposed. Special focus lies on accurately modelling the transient behavior of IGBTs and diodes in the inverter. As an example driving cycle the New European Driving Cycle is discussed.
