Abstract :
We have developed a new method of switching technique in solar charge controller by combining two types of switching devices. Electromechanical relay and solid state switching device have been incorporated in the charging cycle to reduce the switching loss in solar charge controllers. We used micro controller and assembly programming to maintain the switching sequence as well as the whole charging system. In this paper we have generalized the technique and discussed the philosophy in detail about hybrid switching. We have made comparisons between different switching methods and showed the improved outcome by our system. Hybrid switching is a technique for solar charge controller which can save near about 50% energy in Photo Voltaic charging scheme for the same system requirement.
