Abstract
The need for an engineer to have a wider understanding of marketing and management principles is self evident and will increase with time as information becomes more widely distributed and change inevitably quicker. To empower the engineer to contribute to the marketing process, the engineer needs this wider understanding. This understanding is best gained by education. The educational systems are in place for engineers of all ages and stages of their careers. They need to be made aware of the opportunities and encouraged to take advantage of them
