Abstract
All customers in any type of business or industry are most likely in agreement that they are to be “cared for” by their suppliers. The same message is preached in virtually all teachings about enterprise and marketing that “customer care” is a cornerstone of success. But how do we define customer care? Who is the customer and what type of care do customers actually want? This paper describes how the operations of telecom operators, energy systems suppliers and manufacturers have changed and evolved. Different customer categories are also identified and conclusions are drawn about the type of customer care they require. Finally, examples are given to describe how a high level of customer care can be achieved through various efforts and activities
