Abstract :
Requirements for the commercial nuclear power industry to improve the quality and useability of plant procedures, including emergency operating procedures (EOPs), were established as a result of the accident at Three Mile Island. The authors review the historical background of the requirements for upgrading EOPs and the industry´s efforts to meet these requirements, assess the success of the PGP (procedures generation packages) concept as a technique for ensuring that quality EOPs are developed and implemented by the industry, and discuss the program for inspecting EOPs.<>
