Abstract
TRASIMS is a license-free scheduling and dispatching application that was developed for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). It is designed primarily for use by rural transit systems that have limited resources for purchasing commercial software solutions. TRASIMS is configured to assist personnel who schedule and dispatch transit vehicles for clients of transit systems and human services providers. Its software features allow use by rural transit systems that operate on both pre-scheduled and on-demand type client notifications. TRASIMS reduces the need for repetitive manual entries by capturing all information entered into a database, structuring it for convenient recall, and compiling it into reports capable of being transmitted via e-mail to ODOT.
