Abstract :
With the increasing penetration of renewable power sources and impending increase in the number of appliances that run on DC power, it makes a lot sense to develop DC microgrid and DC supply systems, especially in rural areas. This paper discusses the control and utilization of bi-directional DC-DC converter for DC micro grids, highlights the advantages of the topology for voltage control, and propose a unique load sharing strategy without using current sensor. A simple approach for small signal modeling and controller design of boost converter for PV application is also presented. The completely automated control for DC microgrids is verified by using MATLAB/ SIMULINK simulation.
