Abstract
The traditional spread spectrum communication systems have employed deterministic pseudo-random sequences for signal spreading and de-spreading. The self-encoded spread spectrum (SESS) communication system does not use deterministic codes as spreading codes, but time-varying random codes, which change with the information source. Spreading code acquisition is a key technology in the self-encoded spread spectrum system. For reliable signal despreading, we need rapid and reliable synchronization. An efficient acquisition scheme based on transmitting the synchronization head periodically, using the matched filter and automatic decision threshold-level control based on a so-called constant false alarm (CFAR) criterion for a SESS system is presented in this paper, and the theoretical analysis and simulation are discussed in detail.
