  • Abstract
Sigma-Delta Modulators often suffer from non-ideal effects that are due to the strongly correlated nature of the quantization errors. This paper proposes a differentially randomized quantization scheme that is optimal in the sense that the quantization errors become uncorrelated to the input signal and possess a constant variance that is exclusively determined by the quantizer resolution. The application of the proposed quantizer to Sigma-Delta Modulators allows to optimize both dynamic range and spurious signal suppression without to degrade the overall signal-to-noise ratio
