Abstract :
We applied optimal control theory to evaluate the performance of the cardiovascular system. The performance function consisted of the squares of changes in ventricular ejection pressure, aortic flow rate and ventricular work. By regulating the weighting coefficients in the performance function, all the reported pressure volume loops could be simulated successfully. The present technique is available for evaluating the patho-physiological changes of the cardiovascular system
