  • Abstract
    We propose an adaptation model of Physarum based chemo-mechanical coupling as an example of biological autonomy. In this paper, we define the autonomy as dynamics which include both flexibility towards the environment and consistency as a whole in a dynamic environment. To realize these characteristics, a temporal relationship between local and global dynamics is introduced as well as a spatial relationship between local and global conditions. Therefore, we modeled the Physarum as a three-layer model which consists of an endoplasmic, intermediate and ectoplasmic layer. In the ectoplasmic and intermediate layer, a chemical-oscillator system generates the spatial relationship on a short time scale. In the endoplasmic and intermediate layer, a hydrodynamic system defines the boundary of the chemical-oscillator system on a long time scale. Under these conditions, mutual interaction between the above chemical system and the mechanical system is investigated
