Abstract
The proposed paper intends to investigate the benefits of using multilevel converters in high fundamental frequency applications as high speed electric drives, with particular reference to the energy recovering from gas exhaust in automotive systems. Waveforms and THD comparison of conventional two-level sine wave and neutral point clamped converters have been developed and investigated by means of both simulation models and prototypal realization of a NPC three level three-phase converter. Experimental analysis of power switches losses has been also carried out.
