Abstract
The possibility of converting fly-ash waste into a raw material for cement industry and other applications justify the investigation of new beneficiation techniques, including those using electrostatic forces. The aim of this paper was to demonstrate the effectiveness of a modified roll-type corona separator in the processing of this material Three different laboratory models of such separators were evaluated. The analysis of the experimental results pointed out the main problems that should be solved prior to the industry application of corona separators for fly-ash beneficiation. A numerical model of fly-ash behaviour in roll-type corona separators enabled a thorough examination of the factors that influence the efficiency of the process and should be considered in the final design.
