  • Abstract
Urban sprawl caused quantities of environmental and social problems, the conflicts between the requirements of urbanization and the limited carrying capacities of resources and vulnerable environments are increasingly fierce. The sustainable development of the city has become an important topic. And ecological planning is the optimum method for the realization of this sustainability. This paper, aiming to control the urban sprawl, developed a three-dimensional eco-planning model combined with ecological risk sensitivity assessment by GIS, based on the analysis of the characteristics of the urban sprawl. And a case study of Boao Science and Education Region (BSER) ecological planning was carried out to illustrate the effectiveness and application of the model for the control of urban sprawl.
