Abstract
Well-aligned and uniform Ni nanochains have been synthesized using a simple template-free solution-phase method under applied magnetic fields. The size and morphology of as-prepared nanochains can be controlled by adjusting the reaction temperature and the applied magnetic fields, respectively. Magnetic measurements demonstrate the magnetic anisotropy dominated by shape anisotropy and the size dependent saturation magnetization. The novelty of this work is characterized by the facile template-free magnetic-field-induced solution-phase synthesis and self-assembly of aligned Ni nanochains using environment friendly reagents with decreased reaction temperature.
