Abstract :
1.25 Gb/s burst-mode receiver ICs for optical access networks are described. A quick-response receiver circuit with variable gain accommodates signal amplitude changes between bursts. The optical receiver that uses these ICs exhibits fast settling time of under 20 UIs and sensitivity of -30 dBm with DR of over 26 dB using a PIN-PD.
