Abstract :
This paper present a new pretreatment operation for skeletonization based on the local distance transform, which make more effectively use the distance transformation information. It is extract the Relative Distance Relations during the process of Distance Transform and the relations are organized as a Direction Chain Net. To deal with this net, it can remove redundant Distance Transform information with low cost. This method, as a pre-preprocessing step, can be embedded into any algorithm based on local distance transform; both in what follow-up procedure, can effectively reduce the computational cost and improve efficiency.
