Abstract :
We have developed a clock multiplying unit and 4 to 1 multiplexor (CMU/MUX 4:1) that operates up to 47 Gb/s. The on board VCO is LC tuned and the output clock jitter is 6 pspp. The eye diagram of the output is 400 mV swing with rise and fall times of less than 9 ps. This integrated circuit was processed in a 120 GHz BiCMOS 0.25 μm process. Power dissipation is only 1 W for a chip area of 2 mm2.
