The eastern part of Qinghai Province is the main agricultural production base. Based on emergy analysis, agricultural eco-economic system was quantitatively analyzed in Haidong Prefecture of Qinghai province. From 1999 to 2008, the emergy input of agricultural eco-economic system in Haidong Prefecture of Qinghai province increased from 8.49×1020 sej to 1.68×1021 sej, the emergy output of agricultural eco-economic system increased from 3.20 × 1020 sej to 1.32 × 1021 sej. The emergy investment ratio, net emergy yield ratio, environmental loading ratio, emergy use intensity and sustainability index were from 0.53, 1.08, 0.71, 1.52 to1.09, 1.51, 1.15, 1.31, respectively, between 1999 and 2008. The results showed that the emergy use technical level of agricultural eco-economic system in Haidong Prefecture of Qinghai province had a certain improvement during ten years. Use efficiecy of environmental resoures of agricultural eco-economic system in Haidong Prefecture was low for ten years, technology level of emergy use had made strides, agriculture in Haidong Prefecture was in the stage of transformation from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture, the emergy structure and industrial structure remain to be adjusted further, and sustainable development of agriculture in Haidong Prefecture has much potential.
