  • Abstract
Objective The distribution of diatoms in Chongqing section of Yangtze River were investigated qualitatively and quantitatively. Methods 28 water samples were collected from 7 sites in Chongqing section of Yangtze River in four seasons, 2012. Diatom related indices were calculated among the samples, and numbers and types of diatoms were estimated. Results 29 genuses of diatoms were detected in 28 water samples, which include 7 dominant species, whose dominant values exceeded 0.02. Diatoms water sampled in spring and autumn were significantly higher than those in winter and summer. Conclusions The development of diatoms´ database in more extensive water bodies for the forensic diagnosis of drowning was significantly.
