Abstract
A three-level modulation and control scheme for a class-D audio power amplifier is presented. The proposed scheme mainly consists of a three-level modulation circuit and a feedback compensation circuit. The three-level switching scheme avoids unnecessary violent switching action when the input signal is small. The feedback compensation circuit significantly reduces in-band switching noise and improves the amplifier´s linearity. A design example is demonstrated, which yields the THD+N% of 0.48%.
