Abstract
In recent years, renewable energy sources (RES) has increased all over the world, especially in Europe, and the changes brought by these sources have a significant impact on system performance and efficiency. Integrating RES to an electric power network offers many techno-economical benefits and in the same time necessitate advances in the operation, control and planning of electric networks. This paper focuses on the influence of the interconnecting of wind power plants on the electric network in terms of optimal power system operation. In this paper is proposed a k-means clustering based approach to identify the typical load profiles for wind farms in order to achieve the optimal power system operation on minimizing the power losses.
