Abstract :
The authors have proposed previously a cylindrical rotor-type switched reluctance motor (SRM) which has short-circuited windings on the q-axis of its rotor. These short-circuited windings reduce the q-axis leakage flux and cause additional torque generation. This paper describes the performance of the motor together with a novel control strategy. Its validity is confirmed by experimental results
