How to develop a world class electrical utility for the free markets of electrical energy?

The electricity distribution in Finland is going to the new stage where the electrical energy market will be gradually free for competition. The purpose of this study is to analyse the concept of the world class utility. A feasibility study was made to research the condition in logistics and suitable methods for the implementation. Some ideas have been piloted to verify and find acceptable approaches of the implementation to practice. Utilities improved the cost efficiency and strategical business logistics in a customer oriented and flexible way. The methods and findings can be used on other public and industrial areas, too
