Abstract :
Mumbai Metropolitan City, India is witnessing unprecedented rise in power demand over last decade. Tata Power, the licensee for Generation, Transmission and Distribution of electricity for city of Mumbai, has taken up various projects to augment the power infrastructure of Mumbai City. This paper describes a novel method of upgrading of existing 110 kV double circuit transmission lines with 220 kV multi circuit transmission lines using existing Right of Way, without giving shutdowns to existing consumers during entire construction period. This paper also describes the methods to deal with various socio-economic, political and environmental issues popping up during the project execution.
