Abstract
The authors present distributed programming tools that are based on the message-passing macro C language being advocated by Argonne National Laboratory. These tools are built on network systems which support Unix 4.2/4.3 BSD. A description is given of the design of network application protocols to support such a concurrent programming environment. Design and implementation strategies of such protocols are discussed. A visual co-current program debugging tool is described.<>
