Abstract :
A variety of mixed-signal simulators have been developed for investigating the behaviour of systems containing both digital and analogue components. This paper describes the features desired from a mixed-signal simulator to facilitate the design of mixed-signal VLSI devices. It then discusses how the mixed-signal simulators that are currently available meet these criteria and how this may change with the recent development of the IEEE mixed-signal hardware description language, VHDL-A
