Abstract :
A design procedure for a wide-band voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) using packaged devices is presented at low microwave band. The parasitics of the lumped devices are taken into account. It is verified that the configuration of common gate with an inductor is suitable for a VCO using a low-Q varactor diode. A near octave VCO with frequency from 2.3 to 4.5 GHz using a packaged HEMT is demonstrated
