Abstract
Though electronic air tickets have been used widely in airline companies, there are still very large numbers of paper air tickets that need to be processed. Many airline companies have used automatic recognition systems to process air tickets. How to store such huge numbers of air ticket images efficiently is an important part of this kind of system. The normal method is to compress each air ticket image individually with standard compression methods, such as JPEG and JPEG2000, or with a special algorithm. We focus on how to eliminate inter-image redundancies that are also very important for total compression ratio, and we produce an efficient air ticket image compression scheme based on image segmentation and classification.
