Abstract
Different approaches in the field of computer-based group communication are reviewed. Various models, architectural issues, and designs are discussed. Innovative developments and research in cooperative work as well as an approach based on techniques from the artificial intelligence field are analyzed. Particular attention is given to the advanced messaging in group organizations activity model, which allows the support of patterns and the specification of regulations to coordinate a group of people involved in a communication process
