Abstract :
Video transmission over ad hoc networks is more challenging than over other wireless networks. The wireless links in an ad hoc network are not very error resilient and can go down frequently because of node mobility, interference, channel fading, and the lack of infrastructure. Moreover, typical video applications may need a higher bandwidth and higher reliability connection than that provided by a single link in current or emerging wireless networks. Due to high mobility and rapid movement characteristics real time video transmission over ad-hoc networks is becoming more difficult than the simple data transmission. In this paper we compare two on demand reactive routing protocols for video transmission and the evaluation metrics are normalized routing load, Packet delivery ratio, Average End-to-END delay and Jitter. Our simulation tool is Network Simulator-2(NS-2) with myEvalvid - Network Trace (NT) tool set. Simulation result shows that Ad-Hoc On Demand distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol is the best routing protocol for video transmission.
